What is Creative Thinking?

creative thinking skill

What we see, what we listen to, what we observe, what we touch, if we think about it deeper and deeper, then it belongs to the activity of ‘critical thinking.  Am I right? In another word, we can say we all share our thoughts, emotions, feelings in a state of information with each other which already exists in our society. But thinking creatively is different from this. If We think creatively, we have to think out of the box.

Sounds complicated! What is thinking out of the box? Don’t worry, I’m here to make things simple for you.

Suppose for a while, consider that we all are now inside the box where we are sharing information that we already know, already see, listen, feel. Later we all pose the same information. That’s the end of it. For example, we learn years and years what others have already thought, discovered, or invented. It is inside-the-box thinking.

But if we think creatively then we have to place ourselves outside of the box. Just something different from the usual approach.  Which box I am talking about. Your question arises, Right? We must have a clear definition of it. It’s not thinking out of the mind. It’s obvious that the boundary is within our minds. The boundary between what we know and what we have not yet thought about

Here is an example outside of the box.

We all know about Newton’s gravitational force. He discovered when he was sitting under an apple tree when he was bonked on the head by a falling piece of fruit, a 17th-century “aha moment” that prompted him to suddenly come up with his law of gravity. Apple falling is normal for us. but Newton thought just outside of the box and discovered gravitational force.

So here is the exact definition of creative thinking.

Creative thinking is a skill that lets you consider things from a fresh perspective and different angles. It’s an inventive thought process that results in surprising conclusions and new ways of doing things. Or we can say that it is a way to develop novel or unorthodox solutions that do not depend wholly on past or current solutions.

Hope you understand clearly the meaning of creative thinking.
